This Forum session looked at efforts to improve health care quality along the lines advocated in the Institute of Medicine’s 2001 report, Crossing the Quality Chasm. Highlighted were grantees from the Pursuing Perfection initiative, sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and overseen by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. Speakers represented the perspectives of providers, administrators, and consumers of health care. Issues raised included barriers to quality improvement, keys to making improvement programs self-sustaining, investment in technology, and community collaboration. |
