| Summary: | This meeting provided an overview of the federal government’s 2003 smallpox vaccination program, with a particular focus on liability and compensation issues. Speakers described a number of concerns, including the safety of health care workers, the perception of risk, and the lack of adequate public health resources. A comparative side-by-side analysis of the various compensation proposals was presented and a panel of resource experts shared their expertise on vaccine injury compensation and workers’ compensation and the relationship of these programs to the current smallpox vaccination program. |
