This meeting looked at electronic health records (EHRs) in use today and what has prompted health plans and physicians to invest in them. It examined how an EHR system can enhance clinical management, provider communication, and patient self-management, and also explored implementation challenges and barriers to more widespread adoption. Finally, the meeting considered initiatives to roll out a personal health record (PHR), as complements to or interim steps in the direction of a nationally interoperable EHR system. |
