Title: The Physician Group Practice Demo: Where Do We Take What We've Learned?
Manager: Lisa Sprague
Summary: The Physician Group Practice (PGP) Demonstration is the first pay-for-performance initiative for physicians in the Medicare program. Now in their third performance year, all of the ten participating groups have been able to document improved quality of care for a Medicare population. For this seniors-only meeting, representatives of four practices participating in the demonstration addressed the following questions:
  • What is your organization doing differently since the demo began?
  • What is the role of the financial incentive? In what ways, if any, have you changed your internal reward structure?
  • What have been your most significant lessons learned?
  • When the demo ends, will you be able to sustain some or all of the programs you have implemented?
Speakers: Caroline S. Blaum, MD, MS, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine, University of Michigan; James Lee, MD, Assistant Medical Director, The Everett Clinic; James T. Rogers, MD, FACP, Vice President, Medical Management Services, St. John’s Health System; Katherine Schneider, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Middlesex Health System
