Cynthia Griffin, PharmD, is Florida Blue’s (BlueCross BlueShield of Florida) senior director of pharmacy government programs. She is responsible for managing the pharmacy components for the Medicare benefits, maintaining compliance with CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Advocacy) rules and regulations, and providing oversight and strategic direction for the Medicare Stars program. She also manages the Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) relationship for the Medicare line of business. Additionally, she collaborates with internal business partners in the Medicare solutions unit, corporate compliance, care management, sales, service, network and informatics to support the Medicare pharmacy and Stars operations.
Dr. Griffin has been with BCBSF since 2006. Her pharmacy experience includes pharmacy director for the Duval County Health Department, clinical assistant professor for Florida A&M University, associate professor of clinical pharmacy at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, director of a pharmacist-managed anticoagulation clinic, and director of a primary care residency program. She earned a BS degree in pharmacy and a doctor of pharmacy degree from Florida A&M University. She completed an anticoagulation traineeship program at the Medical College of Virginia and is a Fellow of the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists.
Dr. Griffin has served on numerous boards and committees including the Downtown Development Authority for the City of Jacksonville; the State Medicaid Physician Prescribing Panel; the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacist Commission on Credentialing and is currently serving on the Florida State Board of Pharmacy, which she chaired in 2012.
