Gretchen Jacobson, PhD, MS, associate director with the Kaiser Family Foundation's Program on Medicare Policy, where she directs research and policy analysis focusing on the Medicare program and the population it serves. Dr. Jacobson's work focuses on the Medicare Advantage program, the income and financial resources of Medicare beneficiaries, Medicare supplemental coverage, high-cost and high-need Medicare beneficiaries, and Medicare beneficiaries with low incomes, including people dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid. She has written extensively on these issues and has coauthored authoritative analyses in leading research journals. Prior to joining the Kaiser Family Foundation, Dr. Jacobson was an analyst in health care financing at the Congressional Research Service. She has also held positions where she directed research on the market value of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and health services. Dr. Jacobson received her PhD degree in health economics from Johns Hopkins School of Public Health and her MS degree in epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health.
