Jessica L. Curtis, JD, directs the Hospital Accountability Project at Community Catalyst, a national non-profit advocacy organization working to build consumer participation in the health care system. In this role, she provides a broad range of policy-based, legal, and strategic assistance to community organizers, advocates and policymakers spanning a range of issues related to hospital community benefit programs. Key areas of focus include strengthening collaborations between hospitals and communities; building community capacity and engagement in hospital community benefit programs; and addressing hospital billing and collection issues that contribute to medical debt. Ms. Curtis served previously as policy analyst and staff attorney for Community Catalyst's Integrated Care Advocacy Project and Special Needs Plan Consumer Education Project, where she focused on structuring payment and delivery system reforms to benefit vulnerable populations. Prior to joining Community Catalyst, she provided legal advice and services to low-income elders at Boston College's Legal Assistance Bureau. She holds degrees from Saint Joseph College and Boston College Law School.
