Joyce G. Somsak is associate administrator of the Healthcare Systems Bureau in HHS’s Health Resources and Services Administration. As head of the bureau, Ms. Somsak oversees over $900 million in programs and services, including programs that oversee the procurement, allocation, and transplantation of human organs, bone marrow, and cord blood; the Vaccine and Countermeasures Injury Compensation Programs; the 340B drug discount program; Poison Control Centers; State Health Access Grants; and over 1,500 hospital construction, renovation, and equipment awards. 

Ms. Somsak’s federal government service includes a wide variety of leadership positions in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and positions in HHS public health programs and agencies. She worked on the Federal Excellence in Customer Service Initiative and served as a congressional intern. Ms. Somsak received an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in government from the George Washington University.
