Kevin Biese, MD, is an associate professor of emergency medicine with a secondary appointment in internal medicine in the Center for Aging and Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). He serves as the UNC Emergency Medicine vice chair for academic affairs as well as fellowship director for geriatric emergency medicine and co-director, Division Geriatric Emergency Medicine. He has helped lead the creation and definition of geriatric emergency medicine fellowships for emergency medicine residency graduates. He is co-chair on the John A. Hartford and Gary and Mary West Foundation-supported Geriatric Emergency Department Collaborative. He is the emergency medicine immediate past co-chair of the Council of Residency Directors' Academic Assembly and he currently serves as chair of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine's Fellowship Approval Committee. His passion is for improved education and systems of care for older adults, and he has published multiple materials in both these areas.
