Lindsay Lang, JD, serves as senior legal counsel for HealthSource RI (HSRI), Rhode Island’s health benefits exchange. For the past year, Ms. Lang has worked closely with HSRI’s policy and operations staff in preparation for the exchange to open its doors to customers and as HSRI moves into its second year of operations. In this capacity, she has overseen the development of exchange-related policies and regulations, represented HSRI at consumer appeals, and provided legal support to HSRI’s organizational teams.
Prior to joining HealthSource RI, Ms. Lang served as director of health policy for Rhode Island’s lieutenant governor, Elizabeth Roberts. Over the course of her nearly two terms in office, the lieutenant governor prioritized the expansion of high-quality and affordable health care for all Rhode Islanders. With this focus in mind, the Office of Lieutenant Governor served as a hub for implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in Rhode Island.
In her role as health policy director, Ms. Lang focused on health reform and long-term care issues. She led the state’s stakeholder group on Essential Health Benefits Under the ACA, the RI Long Term Care Coordinating Council, and the Working Group to Develop a State Plan for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders. She also served as the office lead on the implementation of a state All Payer Claims Database.
Ms. Lang has previously served as legislative assistant to Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky and Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey. She received her JD degree at Suffolk University Law School, focusing primarily on public interest law. She graduated with a degree in public policy from Dickinson College.
