The National Health Policy Forum offers a range of educational programming designed to help congressional and federal agency staff become better informed about current health policy issues. Over a 38-year history, the Forum has become highly regarded for objective analysis and the dissemination of timely, policy-relevant information. Based at the George Washington University and operating independently under the Office of the Vice President for Research, the Forum's staff comprises a small group of health policy analysts who possess a wide range of technical knowledge and experience gained by work in both the public and private sectors. This collective expertise enables the Forum to cover a broad spectrum of health policy topics.
The Forum's programming includes: Washington, DC-based meetings; Issue Briefs, Background Papers and other publications; and site visits around the country that are designed to help participants gain a practical perspective on health issues.
A strictly nonpartisan organization, the Forum does not advocate policy positions. It also maintains a "no press" rule to foster candor and allow for the open exchange of ideas and viewpoints. To ensure that programming continues to be responsive to the needs and priorities of its participants, the Forum regularly touches base with and seeks feedback from senior-level health policymakers in the legislative and the executive branch.
